Hey Sunnie,

This weekend I had a great time. Here's a poem I wrote.

Against the Storm

As clouds gather and strong wind blow

Craling we try to find a safe abode

Having no other place, stepped inside

Being among strangers, wanting to hide.

Expressing personal deep dark. . . i Fears

Not being the only one it is now clear

As the anchor rode grew new lengths

For our weakness became our strengths.

Against the storm ready to battle with

Weapons of knowledge and tenderness

Once a dying ember ready for flight

New found strength noo a radiant light.

No as one we are able to stand

To lend others a helpful hand

Beginning our friendship a saving grace

I have been and always ill be . . .

I AM WHO I AM

Thank you,

DMP

Sunnie / Chris,

How are you guys doing? I hope all is well.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you both for the tremendous effort you put into your organization. And this applies to all of the volunteers also. All of you did such an awesome job at making everyone feel what was said in the beginning, that your presence is for nobody else but the participants. And I definitely felt that, and I know I speak for most of the people that were there.

There's a ton of resources out there that I could have tapped to help me come to terms with the situation I am in. The Life Group LA was definitely and undoubtedly the correct decision for me.

So now I can move on, and my first step is definitely to give back. I am interested in volunteering. I havea M-F 9 to 5 job, but am available anytime.

Again, thanks so much.

What an amazing experience this last weekend was. I am more enthused to live now, and now I have the substance to do it with. I will be a better person and I will help stop the spread of this disease.

Thank you for bringing all these brilliant and kind presenters to the seminar. Their presentations were all easy to understand and follow and they were all so open to questions.

Thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work and natural love.

Nurse Lynne, John, Jim and Daniel… from the heart presentations… WOW

Your groups energy is amazing.

Thank you for providing such a great day of presenters at the event two weeks ago. It really helped me be more prepared for deciding when I should start taking medications and what I have to do to prepare.

I started taking my meds last week and the tips that were provided have helped me over come my side affects.

I plan on coming to the August weekend in Pasadena for sure.

Thank you SOOO Much...I do not know what to Say

Hello Sunnie and the ENTIRE Life Group,

You know it has been a week since the Weekend Seminar. I am still floating so to speak. You, Ric, Chris, John, Rob ad Lon to name a few people were there for me when I felt alone, scared and ashamed.

Chris set me up with a support group. I went to it this past Thursday. They made me feel so welcomed and like I belonged.

I now know being HIV + is not a death sentence. I know the mistakes I have made in my past and I take full responsibility for the choices that I have made. I know not to look in the past and live in regret, but rather live with a new out look on life and a new choice in life.

One thing I took home with me and I say to myself every day is “I AM NOT HIV, I AM "C". I AM NOT GOING TO LET A VIRUS DEFINE ME, I AM GOING TO DEFINE ME”

There is still so much that I cannot put in words what the Life Group has done for me and what I came out of last weekend.

Everyone there has in my eyes saved my life so to speak. I was so lost and now all I can say is I know I am now found within me a new person.

The Life Group has done so much for me in such a short amount of time. I know that I am lucky in so many aspects, because I was willing to seek help rather then sitting at home debating wheter or not to open a bottle of pills. Being able to get the support early on has helped me SOOO much.

Thank you again for what you and everyone have done.

Thank you

C.

Sunnie,

Yes...recovered fine. I think it's easy to become sleep-deprived throughout the process. It would be nice to have gone to bed at a decent time during the weekend, but the days always make my mind spin, so it's tough to go to sleep when I should. It's a weird combination of being wired and exhausted
simultaneously. And I loved it. My group was so connected. On Sunday night I went out to dinner and when I walked in the restaurant, there they were! They invited me and my friends to join them, and we had a great time. Their faces were glowing, and the high school boy was joyous - unrecognizable from the ultra-quiet, withdrawn boy I had met on Friday night.

I love love love working with you. Your energy is infectious, and you really know your stuff. You must be so proud of your accomplishment.

Rick was so thrilled about the weekend. He has been transformed from living in a place of fear to having a calm sense of well-being and hope. It is evident in his presence, even in the silence. I think his outlook prior to the seminar would have done great damage to his health. The POWER and PEACE that The Life Group brings clients is a treasure that is beyond
description.

I'm gonna try to get some of my HIV-IGNORANT friends to attend the next one. They're HIV-negative, but they could certainly use the education. This seminar should be a course that's required when applying for a gay card.

Thank you for being Rick's perfect, first contact and making sure the weekend delivered exactly like I told him it would. It's nice to know that I can describe the weekend as "magical" and have my words come true. I don't know of anything else so dependable.

I am committed to future weekends.

Love,
Gil

Dear Sunnie,

Just want to thank you and your staff for a wonderfully supportive weekend.

It's remarkable how much things have changed in regard to the medications available and it was very helpful to hear from your very knowledgeable speakers.

Thank you again and keep up the good work.

Love,

Phil

Hi Sunnie,

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you for letting us participate in the seminar last weekend. It was such an emotional weekend - I couldn't have imagined how much people would open up and share. I think it also changed me, not just in terms of having lots of new information but also about feeling comfortable about talking about HIV, especially with somebody who's life the disease is making an impact on. You guys do an amazing things. And it was apparent, especially in the last circle that we did on Sunday night.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say thanks. I will let you know when I have any updates about the site.

Take care,

Dave
